The foundation of an efficient workforce is its employees. However, nurturing and keeping those talented employees requires effective management strategies and practices and strong leadership skills. As the economy begins to grow again and new jobs become available, retention of good staff is becoming a critical issue.
For many employers, in small or large businesses, employee retention strategies need to be worked out and acted on. In Roger Herman’s book “Keeping Good People”, he details five practical strategies to help retain staff. These strategies are environmental, relationship, support, growth and compensation. Herman suggests that managers need to be collaborative and supporting and advises that new managers should
have training to fully understand what retaining staff means.
IPS Worldwide is certainly familiar with retention issues. Our core business lies in innovation of tailored workplace programs that assist organisations better manage their human resources; improve the productivity of their employees and their experience of the workplace.
