Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop and expand institutional client relationships with key Asian & global accounts.
  • Leverage E&P’s extensive network embracing a collegiate approach with peers in equities, research, capital markets and investment banking.

A typical day may include:

As a Team Assistant at E&P’s Sydney office, you will play an integral role in supporting the Corporate Advisory team in Melbourne & Sydney.  This is an ideal role for a proactive and motivated individual looking to enhance their administrative skills, gain valuable experience and progress their career within Financial Services.

A typical day may include:

  • Taking primary responsibility for three Managing Directors, three Executive Directors and junior staff across Sydney and Melbourne
  • Maintenance of diaries, folders, filing systems and client contact lists
  • Greeting clients, answering incoming phone calls, scheduling meetings, and coordinating catering for internal/external meetings
  • Coordinating Internal and External events and travel arrangements as required
  • Printing and preparing documents ahead of meetings as well as monitoring stationery supplies
  • Reconciling expenses for the team.

Our environment can be fast-paced, and you’ll often find you’re assisting multiple stakeholders at any given time, so your ability to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining high attention to detail is crucial.  As you will be liaising with a variety of stakeholders and assisting with the preparation and coordination of meetings and events, strong computer skills (particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite) as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Working alongside experienced and well-respected Advisers in one of the top Adviser teams in Sydney, you will assist the team to provide high levels of service associated with managing a private wealth client base.

The Role

As a key member of the Risk and Advice team within the Wealth Advice division, you will work closely with Advisers, Associates and Risk & Compliance (Line 2) to promote and enhance E&P Financial Group’s culture of compliance and robust risk management framework.

This important role encompasses providing ongoing guidance to representatives in addition to a strong focus on coaching and training to ensure E&P Financial Group continues to identify and manage its risks in an evolving financial services landscape.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting in the enhancement of the Line 1 supervision, monitoring and controls framework
  • Conducting ongoing and thematic Line 1 supervision and reviews of both investment and strategic advice
  • Coaching Advisers and Associates in the provision of advice with real time guidance and feedback
  • Facilitate the management of regulatory processes through technology systems
  • Regular communication with management to ensure appropriate supervision is maintained and responsibilities are appropriately delegated, where required
  • Escalation of incidents and potential issues to management and Risk & Compliance (Line 2)
  • Assisting Risk & Compliance (Line 2) with investigations into incidents and complaints
  • Communicate and apply directives from Risk & Compliance (Line 2)
  • Preparing reports for risk and compliance committees, and senior management
  • Staying updated with relevant laws and industry standards
  • Involvement in ad hoc projects and tasks

Required qualifications and skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree of any discipline (preferably finance, commerce and/or law related) and RG 146 (Financial Planning). This role is suitable for a recent graduate or an applicant with 1-2 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, stockbroking, investment advice, risk or compliance within the financial services industry.
  • A strong interest in managing risk, specifically in stockbroking, investment advice, paraplanning and financial planning
  • An understanding of the current regulatory framework relating to retail financial advice, market participants, and research
  • High level of initiative, resilience and sense of urgency to exercise sound judgement to resolve matters in a timely manner, both individually and in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, seek assistance when required and confidence to escalate matters to management
  • A demonstrated ability to influence colleagues and communicate key concepts effectively
  • Some experience or involvement in project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong attention to detail
